Before you gamble on a Craigslist bike purchase, consider what you're paying for first. Most often you're buying a bike with significant wear and other issues you'll wind up suffering with or paying for down the road.
Backpedal refurbished used bicycles undergo an extensive overhaul. The frame and forks are checked for proper alignment and signs of impact damage. The wheels are trued if needed. All components are checked and/or replaced if damaged. Moving parts are disassembled examined for wear and rebuilt with new grease or a completely new assembly if necessary. The entire drivetrain is checked for wear, this includes the chain, cassette/cog and chainrings. Cables and housing are often replaced entirely with stainless steel cables which won't rust - ever. Finally, with few exceptions, tires and brake pads are replaced with new ones. Backpedal is also prepared to fix anything that goes wrong with your bike aside from normal wear, flats and/or crashes for the first 90 days after you purchase it. Even when the bike functions perfectly, If for any reason you feel you picked the wrong ride, bring it back within 2 weeks in the same condition you bought it and we'll refund your money in full - no questions! |
Backpedal is an authorized used bicycle re-seller through the City of Portland. All of our used bike inventory goes through the Police database to verify they were not stolen.
Trade or Sell Your Bike to Backpedal
We will gladly consider your old ride as a trade-in or purchase it outright. Be sure to talk to us first before you make the trip though. Certain models might not make the cut or you may wish to maximize your return by selling it on your own. Be sure to bring a valid State/Federal ID with a current address also. We will need to register your bike at the time you drop it off, so be prepared to spend a few minutes with us while we do the bike registration thingy. There is also a 2 week waiting period to receive payment for bikes sold w/o a proof of purchase - sorry, we don't make the rules.
