What it is
Backpedal Cycleworks is a neighborhood bicycle shop providing full service bicycle repair to the Woodstock, Arleta, and Lents area in Portland Oregon. Approachable, often with service on the spot, Backpedal defines the neighborhood bike store. Already well-known for its super-friendly and reasonably priced bicycle repair service, Backpedal now offers used retro bikes & and new KHS bikes at bargain prices. We also stock those hard to find vintage parts and, of course, all the new parts and accessories you need to keep your friend looking and riding fine.

True Story
​Established in 2009, Backpedal Cycleworks planted its flag in the heart of Portland's gritty Southeast neighborhoods. Its intrepid founder, Rick, saw an opportunity despite its rough surroundings. In true Eastsider fashion, he put together what savings he had and muscled the rest converting a shut down laundromat into a bike shop. In 2011, Rick passed the torch to Dave who faithfully carries on in the tradition of ye old neighborhood bike shop. Like any good neighbor, the Backpedal crew is approachable, i.e., no need to fear if you can't name every part on your bike. The Backpedal crew is here to make your ride awesome, not judge. Estimates are often done while you wait and repairs take 24 hrs to 14 days depending on the season.

​Alongside the super friendly reasonably priced repair services, Backpedal began refurbishing used bikes and offering them for sale with a 90 day warranty! Used bikes proved to be so popular keeping up inventory was impossible. In 2015 and beyond Backpedal will include affordable KHS commuter bikes in its lineup. With an eye on the future and the needs of its neighbors in mind, Backpedal plans to grow with the community and provide even more bikey type stuff like trailers, apparel and other cool accessories both new and used!
